I'm curious about the password mismatch that you mentioned. check my blog Suppression of updates can be disabled by running regedit. This is just an thought in case you do not have time totroubleshoot further. But some programs that scan the files, such as anti-virus and defragmenter programs, modify the security descriptors of the files. What Is Ntfrs
