However, all the above kinda indicate that the HDD is going into some type of sleep or spin-down and something is pinging it and thus the Event error.

- To me this may be the issue in that Avast was periodically doing something and my machine was not in a full enough active state or VSS was not working right
- I've been running my machine for 4 hours now and checked after each one hour period.....no Event 55 NTFS errors.I'll keep my fingers crossed....time will tell.....but seems to have fixed.
- After the initial build, I received a few MEMTEST86 errors and RMA'd the G.Skill memory.
- I did this an still kept getting the error.....was periodic but seemed to have some level of consistancy.
- I've uninstalled it and so far no more errors!
- I don't see this error message often, but it seems to crop up occasionally, and I'd like to know if it's worth actually shutting down and running a chkdsk on the
- Ereasing the IconCache.db file does not help.
- I have to go through another time consuming chkdsk /r /f c: to clear the dirty bit.

I noticed in the Event Viewer that I am getting periodically the NTFS Event 55 error that says my main partition is corrupt and to run CHKDSK. The reason this is important is because it takes more than an hour to run a chkdsk on my boot partition. I can then do a "chkdsk /r /f c:" command, reboot and allow chkdsk to run (several hours), and then when Windows 7 loads, the volume is no longer dirty.I thought I run chkdsk, the dirty bit is cleared and chkdsk shows no errors, a few hours later though, the dirty bit will be set again.
